Meet the yummiest recipe that will keep you feeling great throughout your Menstrual Cycle!
The simple ingredients in this Chocolate Chia Parfait reduce your PMS symptoms and bring clarity to the Deep Luteal phase of your cycle. Guess what?! You're not 'crazy.' Mood swings, fluid retention, acne and many of the symptoms referred to as PMS are simply byproducts of hormone imbalances and an unhealthy elimination system.
When I started on this path of discovering my Divine Feminine Wild Power, I had NO IDEA what these phases were so here's a quick breakdown.
Phases of the Menstrual Cycle
Your body is preparing to release an egg from one of your ovaries.
Your hormones are at their peak and you release an egg.
The 2nd half of these 2 weeks is commonly known as PMS but is a deeply personal time of separation.
These are the days that you are bleeding.
Fiber is vital to remove excess Estrogen and hormonal waste. The natural sugars in this delicious parfait also help with the dip in Estrogen in the Luteal and Menstrual phases that can make you feel irritable. Raw cacao powder is a superfood that has 20 times more antioxidants than blueberries and contains calcium carotene, magnesium, protein, thiamin, riboflavin and essential fatty acids. Eat this for breakfast and/or a snack all month long, enjoy!
1 1/4 Cup light coconut milk
3 1/2 Tablespoons chia seeds
2 Tablespoons raw cacao powder
1 Tablespoon Grade B Maple Syrup (extra minerals and nutrients)
1 Pinch salt
2 Teaspoons unsweetened coconut flakes, for topping
Fresh berries, for topping (dark berries are great during Menstruation
Add all ingredients except berries and coconut flakes to a mason jar and thoroughly mix together. Place the lid on the jar and store overnight in the refrigerator. When ready to eat, add berries and coconut flakes to taste.
(Optional) Blend the coconut milk, raw cacao power and half an avocado together before adding the chia seeds.
(Optional) Top with ground nuts and flax seeds for more fat and protein.
(Optional) Sprinkle cinnamon over the topping to balance Estrogen.
